He also serves as Market Director of Community Health Improvement and Engagement for Bon Secours Mercy Health\, where his primary role is to aid in the development of programs that address conditions that disproportionately affect under-resourced and underrepresented communities. \nHarold “Woody” Neighbors\, Ph.D.\, Dr. Neighbors obtained his PhD in social psychology in 1982 from the University of Michigan\, Ann Arbor. From 1982-1985 Dr. Neighbors conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute for Social Research (Survey Research Center) where he worked on the ground-breaking National Survey of Black Americans. Dr. Neighbors is presently professor emeritus at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Dr. Neighbors studies racial and gender disparities in help-seeking for mental health problems and the (mis)diagnosis of mental disorder among Black Americans. He is now the Dean’s Senior Advisor for Research and Research Training at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. \nCollin Mays\, a prominent figure in local government and a dedicated philanthropist\, hails from Michigan.
